Using JRiver to create multiple playlists
« on: January 21, 2025, 04:12:34 am »

I am not sure where to post this, but this is what I wish to do with JRiver, and wonder whether it is possible.
1. Implement playlists which are available regardless which device I am playing on.
2. Add songs to playlists as I listen.
3. Choose from playlists to have groups of music that will always be played together and added to other playlists together in the same sequence.
4. Add radios stations to streaming list accessible through any device.
5. Play songs remotely wherever I am like I can with Synology’s DSaudio.

Are these possible?

1. Supported - you need to have a PC acting as a Library Server, other MC instances and remotes connecting to it
2. That's the Recently Played playlist. You can also use the [Last Played] field to create smartlists
3. Playlist groups. You can also select playlists, right-click, Combine
4. I believe you can add streaming channels to playlists - then shared via 1)
5. You can use an android/iOS remote like JRemote or access MC's 'Panel' server remotely to view and play all content

For 2.  I was thinking about interactively adding a current song to an existing playlist by choice.
For 3. I was thinking more along the lines like selecting three songs into a group, then I can add these thre songs to whatever other groups together maintaining the same sequence.
For 5, I was wanting to access whenever I am not on home network.  DSaudio can do this, I have not seen a way to do this with JRiver.

2. Interactively? You can just manually drag the track to a playlist.

3. Try stacking the files together: select them -> right-click -> Stack. Stacks can be viewed as Expanded or Collapsed (same menu).

5. Search/google the wiki and forum for 'Access Key'. You can access your library server remotely, there are many posts about how to do it. You'll need to open/forward port 52199 from your router to your MC server machine, then you can access it from anywhere using the Access Key (it works as a DynDNS name).
