ISO files on rename
« on: January 29, 2025, 03:25:33 pm »

I have a number of SACDs that I have imported into my library as .iso files. When I moved my library to a different OS, I used Rename, Move, & Copy files with the update database option to change the path.  In doing that, all the .iso files lost their index. i.e., The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway disc 1.iso;2 became The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway disc 1.iso.

I just reproduced the problem to report it and after it did that, it then changed the names of the files on the first disc which I have also seen from time to time.  There's a video at https://youtu.be/ORRIlimU2JQ

If I try to use the rename function again and give the expression "The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway disc 1.iso;[Track #]" - it doesn't work.  If I use the tagging feature to set the filename back, it usually works but sometimes it renames the ISO file which requires more fixing.

What are the best practices for using ISO files?

Thanks!

This is very similar to what I reported here: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,140324.0.html

My only solution was to restore an old backup and rerun the rename process. I’ll be curious to see if this was a bug that was introduced at some point. On the bright side, once I restored the library and reran the library relocate process, it’s worked fine ever since.

I don't think it's new.  I've had it happen a couple of times before but I didn't know how to reproduce it until now.  The rename dialog even shows it's going to do it but I didn't notice it when I was changing path of the entire library due to a server move.

Yup, same experience. Everything looks like it should - but once it does the “move” - the semi-colon and number from the filename is missing. You can even add it back manually and it works. So there is something in the code I believe that is unaccounted for when renaming the ISOs - maybe the “;” causes some kind of glitch.

This would definitely fall in Bob’s neighborhood...
