Would you do the
bt all
command when it segfaults?
It will return the stack trace.
Thanks.
Note: Just did a fresh install of 24.04, used InstallJRMC and it works fine.
npreining:
I have similar issues, and in my case it is related to KWin/Wayland, ie. when you run the KDE Plasma desktop on Wayland. In this case, MC crashes every single time.
Plasma on X11, or Gnome on Wayland, both work, though.
Maybe you are in a similar situation.
Awesome Donkey:
If they're using Kubuntu (and they did mention using Dolphin, so would make sense it's KDE), if using Wayland you may have to switch to the X11 session otherwise it might segfault.
Also with KDE Plasma + Wayland if you're still getting segfaults you might try Bob's instructions above too to get a stack trace and post it, might help.
bob:
I just did the default install on a modern machine. Didn't check to see what the XServer was.
