Tagging problem
« on: January 24, 2003, 12:20:04 am »

In my home computer I have 5,000+ .ape files. For archival reasons I decided on ape. But as you guess total HD space is over 140 GB. So for work computer and mobile units I converted those ape files to 128 Kb wma files. It was not as easy as I thought because it took at least 5 overnights in five different steps. At the end I have a copy of my library in wma. But now I see that much of my tags are empty. The files that were converted first day are ok, but the other 4000+ files just have Song Name, Artist, Album and Genre, the other tags are empty.
I tried to re-tag some of them and deleted the newly tagged files because of easy organisation. But when I reimport those re-tagged files I just see that the tags are empty again.
My operating system is Win 2000 Professional and I use MC 9.101 version.

You may be right about of the problems of ape and wma formats but in my case I have 1000+ files which they have converted with right tagging information and the rest 4000+ files don't.
Isn't it strange?
