Loading MP3 player from MJ client
« on: January 06, 2003, 10:49:59 am »

I've got a 5 PC network in my home with one of the PCs acting as the MP3 server.  My kids PCs run MJ client to play music, but I also need for them to be able to load their personal MP3 players from their own computers.  Currently, the SEND TO option on their playlist doesn't allow them to send the songs from the server to the device attached to the client's PC.  Is there a way to do this, or is it prohibited because of copyright issues?

We've tried to stay away from copying tracks from PC to PC because of copyright issues.  In your case, it's argueably not a problem, but we just haven't taken the time to sort out which ones are and which aren't.

I figured it might be a copyright issue, but it seems it should be okay if the server is on the same LAN segment as the client.

well i figure if they were all running from the same license key it should be allowed. no matter if they are running on a local network or one at home and one at work.

Excellent idea on using the license key for "fair use" verification.
