The font in the player window is much too small. I can't find a way to adjust it.

Generally MC's fonts are adjusted in the Options > Tree & View > Select font... at the bottom, where you can adjust the font used and the font size. But it's mostly an all-or-nothing sort of deal, so it'll adjust the font and size of everything used in MC (other than things specified in the skin's main.xml file).

For clarification: MC 34 above
MC 33 in this answer

It seems that the size changes parallel to the font size in MC 33.
In MC 34, it always remains the same size.

Both players: Sans Regular 16

Both set to use the exact same font/size?

I couldn't locate a font called "Sans Regular" but the OpenSans   font does something really odd in MC on windows and the mac - whilst changing the font-size either raises the size of the text elsewhere in the Main-UI not only does it not change the font-size in the player bar it is always using a font-size much smaller than the text size.

Since there is nothing in the main.xml for the Black on Black skin, or the main.xml in the Default Skin folder controlling the size of the font used in the PlayerBar there has to be something in the Skinning Engine making sure that Text at a Size that would not fit in the PlayerBar Window is forcibly reduced in size.

The only thing I can suggest/recommend is try switching to a font and a font size that doesn't display the same tendency/problem.

I chose Microsoft Sans on Mac in MC33 and 34 and it did exactly the same thing, left a small font in the player bar.

I've tested all the skins.

Result:

It seems to work correctly only in the Modern Cards skins and the Twilight skin.
In these skins, the font in the player bar is displayed well.

However, I can't figure out where the font size comes from. It has nothing to do with the font in the main window (larger—but OK for me).

I also noticed that when selecting the font size, MC doesn't use the desired size. After accessing the font settings again, a different size is displayed than the previously set size (always larger). This is unpredictable.

Every MC Skin can control the Font Size in the PlayerBars Display in one of 2 ways

They can let the system/skinning engine look after it or they can use an instruction that looks similar to this one
Code: [Select]
<DisplayFont TitleSize="125" StatusSize="95"/> <!-- Controls the size of the Title and Status Text -->
Where any value above 100 will increase the Font Size MC is using and a value below 100 will decrease it; because those values are not Actual Font-Sizes they are values when divided by 100 act as a font-scaling value.
But since the Size of the Display Panel is Fixed the skinning engine will automatically adjust the Font Size being used in the PlayerBar Display Panel to make sure it fits.

MC was not designed to handle larger font sizes, that's why it warns the user against using them when they try to set the Font-Size above a value MC can accommodate without having to adjust it in various areas of the User Interface.
