Poor Audio Quality when playing a DVD
« on: January 22, 2003, 10:25:15 am »

When playing a DVD on my machine using MC the audio quality is poor.  I seem to remeber having a similar problem when I first got my system.  I have a SB Live and 4.1 Speakers.  The problem is that the speakers are not Dolby compatible so I need the ability to change from the dolby sreaqm to a standard stereo stream.  I can do this in Power DVD but I cannot find a way to do it in MC.  Am I just missing the boat or is this not a feature and if so could it be added??

Cheers in Advance

Adam

There should be an option like "Decoder Properties" in the right-click menu when you watch a DVD.  It normally has the audio configuration for the filters you have installed.

Also, I have to switch to the right output device for my SPDIF to work.  (it's in the right click menu too)

Let us know what you figure out...

It is greyed out unfortunaetely.  I can edit the properties for the video config but not for the audio...  I have triwed bout Wave out and direct sound and they both pop and stutter...

If it's stuttering, try a quick pause and unpause.

I always need to do that at home to get the Dolby Digital working again. (otherwise it makes horrible noises)

Just an idea...

Ill give it a try.  Thing is I dont think this is set up to play dolby digital.  I normally pick a stereo stream instead...
