Tips When Using Projector With Anamorphic Lens?
« on: May 20, 2025, 04:50:55 am »

I finally have my Schneider 1.33x XL anamorphic lens up and running. Are there any suggested settings that I should enable?

The 2 main things that I've been having trouble with is getting the OSD to show on the screen. Default is at the bottom and is completely cut off when using the lens.

The other is pincushion. I'm not really sure how to set the geometry correction in the settings.

Is it fixed in place or on a sled?

Geometry correction is generally trial and error and will depend on mounting location/lens shift/distance, you will likely need v small deviations from no correction but basically show a grid pattern and get the lines to visually align then measure the boxes to see how different the dimensions are in the middle Vs the extremes and adjust til they are approximately the same size

The lens is on a sled. I never thought about using grid pattern, will give it a try, thanks.

I'm assuming that there is no easy way to move the OSD up in order to see it while playing a movie?

fwiw I use same lens (isco branded but same thing) and use the attached correction

I don't recall noticing OSD issues though I turn off the bottom one so probably I'm a bad person to ask, basically you use black bar detection to zoom the bars away along with aspect ratio correction (in jrvr settings), this gets the image ready for the lens to do its thing.

Thanks, I'll use your settings as a starting point.

I use the OSD for things like time elapsed, chapters, audio track, etc. I don't think that there is a way to make it visible unless maybe I override the aspect ratio and change it to 1.78.
