I will I'm afraid.  I do like the way it gets info for tracks and it ties in well with XPs features like folder cover art.  I will still use MC as my primary player (If the bugs will allow me to!!) but I shall have WMP 9 also.

I will also get Movie Maker 2.  I have tried the BETA and it is absolutley fantastic..

Wahoo :)

Thanks for the tip. I didn't know the final was out.
I love MJ and use it all the time but for me it's for my music collection as a computer jukebox, I'm also thinking about trying it for my digital photo collection although a lot of features are going to have to be added/changed for me to be fully convinced to do this.

It's film playback is still too buggy for me though and so I use WMP for all my films i want to watch. It's smooth, clear and easy to control.

I've never really been too big a fan of 'Jack of All Trades' type software as they become too innoficient or complicated for any one particular task. Being able to do too much means that it cant focus on the one thing and so that's where WMP comes in for me. For me it's a simple player - audio occassionally but usually video.

As far as jukebox goes though that's where MC comes in for me and it excells by far.

I've downloaded WMP Series 9 as I do some of my encoding in WM and I too still use it for video at this point.

However Media Center has become my full-time jukebox and hope to use it one day for slide shows and video.

Got it too.  It's still got some outstanding bugs leftover from beta but is generally a really nice evolution of the product.

The only reason I use WMP9 is because when I use PressPlay as a WMP service, it creates the album and artist folders.  The stand-alone PP client does not.

I won't! I don't trust them thar M$-people. I'm sure there's some kind of sneaky digital rights management in it that will make your computer say: "Sorry, but you can't play DVDs fromj that zone!" or "No, you can't make backups of your DVD, so SmartRipper won't run on this system anymore!" or even "Sorry, but MP3 files are not allowed since it's a way to copy music illegally!" after a few months.  >:(

Mastiff,
Can we say: 'Paranoia' followed by : 'courtcase and large lawsuit' if you were to be right.

They cant do that purely because they say they dont.
If they did do it they're have been lying and we'd all become a lot richer from sueing them :)

Nila,
Probably not relevant but if you look up the word "Paranoid", you will find a picture of Bill Gates.

Lying? Microsoft?? NEVER!! :)

We all know they probably do collect info but it's all stuff they can never use legally or own up to. If they did they'd be in trouble.

But at the end of the day, there are tooo few of us who are techno savy enough to know what on earth these crazy, somewhat reliable MS OS's have going on beneath the core. Sure they have all kinds of lovely tricks that we dont know about :)

ET phone home, oh no - MS beat you to it and phoned home the day you connected to the internet :)

You mean like even though you set IE Internet Options to not keep pages in History and to Empty Temporary Internet Files Folder When Browser Is Closed and all the other things you do to keep Windows from retaining your surfing habits that the index.dat file that resides in the Temporary Internet Files folder still contains a list of every site you've ever visited anyway?

http://www.f**kmicrosoft.com/content/ms-hidden-files.shtml

**replace asterisks with the appropriate letters

I followed the instructions at this page to view the contents of my index.dat file and it contained 65,000 lines of text documenting every website I've visited since the last time I reinstalled Win98.

This is why I would never seriously consider using WMP/WMA.  What are you going to do when MS decides (or works in conjunction with other entities who decide) that all those files you ripped without DRM enabled are illegal and no longer playable in Windows.

At that point they're going to have to publically announce that this is going to happen and when that happens I will then freeze my system on the last version before they add all the cr*p. I will then wait till the newer versions are hacked with the added rubbish removed and then use the hacked versions.
