Media Centre 9 -- Burning CDs
« on: December 22, 2002, 08:19:31 pm »

Hi -- I have updated from 8 to Media Centre 9 and I am having a problem burning CDs. When I burn a CD it copies just 1 (one) track over many times (e.g. if there are 14 tracks on a CD, I get 14 copies of one track).

I am perplexed.

Is it realistic to go back to version 8 (which performed well for me) and dump all of 9?

Thanks and Merry Christmas.

I haven't experienced this problem (anyone else?). Could you post your system info (from the MJ help menu) and tell me the exact set of steps you take to burn the CD? Then I can try to replicate it on my end.

Thanks,

Are you making an exact copy of one CD , or are you copying multiple tracks from different CDs?  I just burned a CD last night with multiple tracks from different CDs with no problems...

If your running XP, it may be the built-in burning software. Disable it by...

Right clicking on the My Computer icon and select properties.
Find your RW drive and right click on icon. Select Drive properties.
Go to the Recording tab and uncheck "Enable CD recording on this drive"

10-27

PS: This is from the Yamaha F1 CD-RW manual (new from Santa...I was a good boy this year). I have W2k (not XP) so can't verify this will work.

I again copied one cut (15 times) from a single cd with 15 cuts on it. I watched the process and it seemed to be burning well. All indications were that it was burning properly.

I copied the process directly from the "Create (Burn) CDs" as recommended on the help menu. This process has worked fine for me in the past (when using version 8).

My system info is as follows: (Thanks)

I am perplexed.

First of all, what are you doing, are you clicking on a song then hitting RIP CD up on top. If you've installed v9 fresh (as in you uninstalled v8 then reinstalled) you'll have the default interface, and thats what i'm goign to refer to from this point on.

In the toolbar at very top, after inserting a cd, click Rip CD in build 88 it all worked fine, so there shouldn't be issues ripping, but make sure with the window that opens up after that, you have all the check boxs next to every song checked.

Take a look here:
http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/cdburningtips.html

If I still didn't help you, repost the issue your having with more detail, and i'll most centainly reply.

good luck,

?

Having same problem as PastorPad...

getting same multiple copies of single track.

I am going to the media library, selecting an artist/album that i want to burn to CD, then hit the select all to get all of the tracks selected...then i hit the burn cd...it appears to be doing the preparing/writing correctly then the playback reveals differently...the odd thing is that the tracks all have the unique names of the songs i wish to burn, but they all end up being one track...
