Looking around the web page, it appears as though one can use the version 8 software if one has purchased the version 9 license. However, doing this seems more complicated than it first appears.
I've got version 8 running, but it doesn't acknowledge any license, doesn't have the tagging studio, nor does it seem to recognize the ratings I assigned while version 9 was working.
Can I use version 8, tagging studio and all while I wait for version 9 to get sorted out?
Right now I'm kind of feeling like I spent 35 bucks to get nothing...

yes

and once you do an update MP3 from database then the way MJ8 saves it will be converted to the new way in MC9

Okay, so how do I get Version 8 to recognize that I've registered version 9, and thus get access to the tagging studio?

Help/Restore License/(The Top Selection do not use the internet selection unless your lic file is more then 2 weeks old)

also make sure you have the the listed below build, as of that build they fixed the v9 lic issues.

Well, I downloaded and installed 80394, and it's recognized my license. So far so good.
But I still don't see a tagging studio, which is quite important to me. Do I have to do something extra to activate it?

Oh, THAT's the tagging studio in version 8? Can I dock the window like I do in version 9? Doesn't seem to respond to moving it to the side and there's no obvious button for this. I like to leave it open so I can edit the currently playing song.

BTW, why is it that all the ratings tags that I assigned in version 9 now appear under "comments" in version 8, and the ratings tags are blank?

well there is no real way of saving ratings tags in a media file (there is No ID3v2 Tag For It).

In MJ8 J river created a MJ Tag and stored all info in there. problem is this makes the tags not ompatable with other programs to include Windows Explorer.

MC9 uses comment tags to save info (a better way of doing it). if you use a tagger that can see Comments (Like Dr. Tag) you will see all the info MC9 saves to comment tags.

there is no Limit of how many ID3v2 Comment tags you can save to a MP3 (well there may be a limit but it is more than you will ever need).

going from 9 to 8 you will see only one comment. and it may be one or the other of the ones MC9 saved. that does not mean the other tags are not there still.
