Another try at Registration
« on: December 25, 2002, 02:50:49 pm »

I have one machine I've never had any luck registering Media Jukebox/Media Server on. However, at least I'm getting a decent error message now. After uninstalling MJ8, deleting any JRiver registry entries I could find, installing MC9, and attempting a restore, I get the message " Error restoring Media Center license: Failed opening registry".

Any ideas to help me effect registration would be great.

If it matters, the machine is pretty vanilla, as follows: Media Jukebox  9.0.89 -- C:\Program Files\Media Center\

Microsoft Windows XP  Workstation 5.1 Service Pack 1 (Build 2600)
Intel Pentium 4 2259 MHz MMX / Memory: Total - 523 MB, Free - 366 MB

Internet Explorer: 6.0.2800.1106 / ComCtl32.dll: 6.00.2800.1106 / Shlwapi.dll: 6.00.2800.1106
Shell32.dll: 6.00.2800.1145 / wnaspi32.dll: Internal ASPI Layer

If you will e-mail a link to this thread to johnt @ jriver.com, he'll send you a test program you can try.  We fixed a problem, thanks to the enormous patience of Joe Karnes, recently.  It was a Microsoft function not acting as documented.

If you can help us track it down, we'll get it and fix the problem with any restores you've had to use.

I just want to encourage you to follow through with the suggestion Jim H. gave you to contact John T. about your problem.   They both worked overtime to correct my registeration problem.    Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday.  Joe Karnes

Can you verify that the logon you are using has "computer administrator" privileges?

Thanks,
