Skipping with rips/burns since version 9 upgrade
« on: December 12, 2002, 10:06:24 am »

I hadn't ripped or burned any CD's in a long time (since upgrading to version 9), and today I decided to make a huge Christmas music collection.  I spent a long time ripping parts of over 10 CD's and combining it with a bunch of downloads.  I then put it all on a CD-RW.  Now that I listen to it, I'm finding that almost every song skips quite a bit.  What happened (this didn't happen with version 8 ) and is there anything I can do without having to repeat my project?  Even if I do have to repeat it, what should I do to make sure the same thing doesn't happen again?  Is it anything to do with version 9?

Here's my info ...

Is the skipping just on the tracks you ripped with version 9, or is it on all tracks?

Try using "Digital Secure" for ripping. I'm not sure why you'd get skips now and not in v8, there isn't much difference. Are you using the same encoder settings? Rip/Encode simultaneous option the same as before? Were you doing anything intensive on the computer at the time of ripping?

I'll try using Digital Secure next time (not sure if I did last time or not).  I got crashes when using rip/encode simultaniously, so I switched it to NOT simultaniously.  I can't confirm my settings are exactly like they were before because when I upgraded to version 9 all my settings were lost.

Before I burn/rip I always make sure the only things that show when I hit control+alt+delete are:

Explorer, Systray, & Media Center 9
