Real Audio and Windows Media not fixed in ver. 9
« on: November 22, 2002, 02:52:28 pm »

Hi,

The new version 9 of Media Jukebox is still not able to
play Real Audio (looking for version 6.0 or higher
while I have RealOne player) - nor Windows Media
(I have version 9, which is apparently not recognized).

Uninstall RealOne and get the RealPlayer:

It is a lot less intrusive.

The WMP problem could be theirs or ours, but we won't look at it hard until they are out of beta and release an SDK.  We don't recommend installing WMP9 right now.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I understand the problem with Windows Media (though
another product, Musicmatch Jukebox, seems to cope
with it). However I am a bit reluctant to downgrade to
RealAudio 6...

mjw,

If you open the link that Jim posted above, you'll find another link that goes to Real's "archival" player download page. You can get version 8 there, as well as other versions.

Or am I missing something about Real's numbering scheme, ie. RealAudio 6 ships with RealPlayer 8?
