Problem burning data CD
« on: December 04, 2002, 09:58:31 am »

Howdy,  just purchased Media Center 9 and I am having problems recording a data cd.  I am selecting all of my Christmas songs (wma format) and burning them to a CDR.  Each time I attempt to burn it, halfway through MC9 errors out and ejects my CD.  I used MJ 7 & 8 faithfully but I never tried to record a data CD.  I run windows XP Home Edition.  Any suggestions?

Try checking or unchecking "use internal aspi" in the device settings in MJ.

Thanks JimH.  I tried unchecking the "use internal aspi".  When I tried to make the data CD, it worked perfect until it burned 220 of 301 tracks.  I got the following error message (which I get every time)

Error:  Unexpected failure reading file cache.  File/Disc read error encountered.

The program thens kicks out my cdr.  Any other solutions?

Make sure the CD is set for 80 minutes, not 74.  Leave a little extra room.

I used MC9's move/copy feature and copied the songs to a separate folder.  I then burned them using Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum and it worked great.

The bug must be in MC9.  I tried your idea by only copying half of the songs and selecting 80 minutes and still had the problem.  FYI.  Thanks.

Is the "Use internal burning engine" setting on the CD Writer settings page set?  How about swapping it?
