Audio/playback has gone kaput
« on: December 03, 2002, 09:17:30 pm »

Since upgrading v8 to v9 my ability to play back ANYTHING has ceased.

I'm not listing this with the other v9 bugs 'cause I suspect it's probably just a problem with my PC's reaction to the upgrade and not with the program itself -- since no one else seem to be complaining having NO AUDIO . . .

I can still play back using RealPlayer and Windows Media and everything else I've tried, but Media Center/Jukebox no longer acknowledges that I even have a playback device.

In "option -> playback" I can not use the drop down menu for output or bit depth. There are no Output plugins available from MJ, that I can find, although the Plugin manager implies that there are.

This goes for ALL audio -- Cds, MP3s, Etc. I can not choose so much as a default Wave output. There's no implication that MJ/MC knows I have a soundcard at all.

MJ 7 and 8 were working great. And v9 is working great on my work computer. But with my computer at home, I can sort and file to my heart's content, but MJ just won't make a sound . . .

Please advise!

thank you,

Luke

Alright, so I installed Media Center 9.85 over Media Juke 9.84, and the problem was still there (no audio playback), but I was now given access back to my playback options, so I was able to change the reccomended wave-mapper to my actual sound card driver and tweak the bitdepth. So now it's all good.

Again, these problems were only with my old Win 98 SE home laptop . . . my Win 2000 at work never had so much as a hiccup using the new Media Juke/Center.

Glad to see I can use this at home again, anyway.

Thanks,

Luke
