Thumbnails > Create Missing in Options not Working

I did a search but didn't see this in the current posts.  

In "Tools > Options > Tree & View Settings > Thumbnails"  The "Create Missing" function is not working.

When you click the button you get a message that says something to the effect that "this process may take a while" but nothing ever happens.
