Thru The Internet

Select File
Right Click
Select "Look Up Track Info From YADB"

Or

Select File
Right Click
Select "Submit Track To YADB"

Basicly MJ will analize the file, and take that data and submit it to YADB.

when you lookup it analyzes the file and checks YADB for the same info if it matchs then it gets the data.

I Have submited some of my files but not all during Beta of this option.

I just checked it on one file and it worked.

I am not sure if the comment tag is sent.

and i am not sure what happens if there are two files that do not match (maybe in case someone submits a file with bogus info like wrong artist and title).

and it will search the YADB database after Artist / Album / Track# and fill name / genre / year?

if your looking up, no

just alow it to scan, start with one file.

it does not use the tags to look up the file, it scans the encoded data.

when you submit data it is best to have all the fields complete

The only problem i see right now is:

1. When you submit you do not know if it has been submited before or not.

2. Can't be used in Plug-In Programs (Yet I Hope) since i would love to use this in my program to not only check the current data but also cross check the file with the YADB database.

3. Needs to be added for when a user rips a CD this data should be sent direct from rip to YADB.

Yea Gateley (On The Server) and I think matt (In MC) has been working hard on this for the past month+

I and some others have submited data and was able to look up data that was submited and it seems like it is coming together.

I am sure there will be some changes in the interface but it seems like everything else is working.

That's exactly the case, thanks King.  The two of them deserve a huge round of applause for what they've done.

This is a problem that's extremely hard to solve.  How do you identify a track from its sound, no matter what encoding or bit rate have been used?  They came up with a very neat and quick solution.

i don't really understand the question since it has nothing to do with an album or 1 artist albums

it has only somthing to do with indiv riped tracks and if a user submites a track with correct tags and your file analyzes the same when you do a track lookup you will get the tags the other users submited.

it does not have anything to do with albums (even if that info may be included in the tags)

Don't see the point

if the file analyzes and a match is made you will have the artist, and album

just use it

you are thinking about how it may be done normaly with CDDB, the way J river is doing this now is much better. since you need no tags in your files for it to work.

[moving this from another thread]

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[remy]
So, after the multiple artists enhancements came out, I changed all the tracks from "Various Artists" albums(soundtracks, tribute albums, radio promo mixes, genre samplers, etc.) to have the real track artist in the "Artist" database field.

Do you want them uploaded?  They'll conflict with the full album lookup results won't they?

KingSparta

>> Do you want them uploaded?
If they are correct

no, each track is analyzed and the data sent if a user has a track and the analyze when they do a lookup there will be a match on the analyze data and the Tag info will be sent to the user.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
JimH
Right now, it's probably best to only submit tracks you're sure of.

We're still learning about what we've got.
-----
RemyJ

I did the research so I'm sure they're correct.  I just wasn't sure if the fact that the individual tracks would be different from the album would be an issue.

Sounds like it won't so I'll upload them.

maybe the interface should have options like over write current album, only apply album if "Album field" is blank etc....

I was just thinking about this when mouseman was talking in another thread.

maybe we should have one thread for this.

what about make a littel competition over it... so when a registered user is submiting a song it will also add his name to a top 1000 list over those users who have added most songs
