Analyzer Memory Leak and more
« on: November 18, 2002, 12:44:35 pm »

If I queue up a thousand or so MP3s to be analyzed MJ will start to fail the analyzing after around 200 or so. If I exit and restart the analyzer the previously failed files will get analyzed just fine.

In some cases, the analyzing doesn't fail, but the amount of RAM (and page file usage) allocated to MJ goes up to about two GigaBytes causing my whole system to slow down to a crawl.

I can confirm that there seems to be a problem with the analyzer. When queueing up a thousand or so tracks for analysis I've had random crashes, lock outs or even analysis of a file resulting in +158.7db. Something does not seem to be right.

We'll get this fixed before long.

Sorry for the hassles in the meantime.

(p.s. does it only leak when doing mp3 files?  what about ogg, wma, or ape?)

For me it seems to be MP3s. I managed about 500 APEs without any hassles.

After a lot of perseverance I've managed to analyse most of my files, however there are two APE files that are causing a problem and was wondering if they are a symptom of the problems with the analyser. When analysed both files return a value of -0.00 in the replay gain column when they've been analysed. These two files also refuse to remove themselves from the "need to be analysed" smartlist.

maybe you should remove \ delete them from the MJ database?

re-import, try again.

maybe also something wrong with the APE file?

Re-Rip?

Do those 2 APE files pass a "Verify" in Monkey's Audio. ( www.monkeysaudio.com )

If they do, but MJ doesn't work with them, is there some way I could get a hold of one of them?

Also, I can't make the analyzer leak on any of the machines here, so any more tips would be great.  Still trying to figure out if it's the analyzer or the plugin's decoding...

Thanks for the help everyone.

Just a thought...I noticed that MJ8 had the similar behaviour sometimes. I believe it happened when you analyze files that you're currently playing (mp3 that is)... Could this be the case?

Good luck!
