9.0.82 Hangs while burning...
« on: November 24, 2002, 12:48:39 pm »

Hey Guys

MJ 9.0.82
Win XP Pro
Philips CDRW 2010

Everything worked fine with MJ 8, the only difference is the upgrade.  Can still burn fine with Adaptec.  The burning process hangs in the "preparing to write" phase at the beginning.  If left long enough I get the error message:  "Error:  'START DAO RECORDING' command failed on device 1:1:0  Unable to set disc parameters"  Also unable to playback from that device.  Again all functions were smooth as silk with MJ 8.  I did try going back to MJ 8, but got the same error, so I assume there must be some steps to take to revert back over and above uninstall 9 / install 8.

Could sure use some help
Thanks
Richard

Post the info from "Help / System Info".

Try switching internal ASPI and internal burning engine flags around and see what happens.

Thanks

I did download an ASPI layer from Adaptec and unchecked internal burining engine.  That seems to work ok.  Appreciate the advice.

Could you post your system info one more time? The previous one shows you are using external (Adaptec) ASPI and the MJ internal burning engine. Is that the way the checkmarks appear on the CD writing settings page?
Internal ASPI not checked
Internal burning engine checked

I think when you had the problem with the drive hanging, you had "internal burning engine" unchecked, is that correct?

Thanks,
