Best Way to Control MJ9 with Girder?
« on: November 10, 2002, 06:02:45 pm »

Hi,

I've been trying to control MJ9 via Girder, but can't get the Girder RC plugin to appear in the plug in list, maybe because it's not compatible with V9 of the software.

The good news is that sending 'commands' to the MJ application works well...

for instance
Wparam: 32778 Lparam:0 corresponds to Play/Pause
W: 98352 L:0 toggles between Mini and Maxi-Me
(I could find an equivalent to each keyboard shortcut...)

My question is: is this the recommended way to go, or is there a better solution? (more robust, or better in some other ways)

Thanks

Sending commands to MJ is probably the best way to go for now.

We know it's confusing -- hopefully we'll either improve our remote plugin support or improve our Girder support by release time.

Thanks Eiffel.

Have you tried the Girder web site?  I'm not sure of the current status for v9.  There are some setup files on www.girder.nl for v8 and v7.

Thanks for the response (and glad to know I didn't waste my time hunting for commands!).

I did try to the Girder web site, but the current download there is not compatible with MJ9. I'll send my updated plugin to the Girder author so that other people can benefit from it

Personally, I'm just using Girder to call MJEXTMAN.EXE and it's various command line switches. Any reason you haven't tried this? Any reason Matt and Jim haven't already suggested this?
