FTP Connection Woes
« on: November 07, 2002, 04:19:14 am »

Since last evening I'm unable to connect to the FTP server to download the latest build.  I called my ISP and they are also unable to connect.  They don't have the site filtered or blocked.  Is anyone else having connection problems?

Your ISP may have problems.  Ask them to do a traceroute to ftp.jriver.com.

You can also do it from a DOS window by typing:

tracert ftp.jriver.com

There are a number of downloads in process at the moment, so I know it's not our server.

You can also use the IP address in the tracert or the download link by changing:

ftp.jriver.com
to
198.73.82.66
or to
198.73.82.4

If that works, there is a DNS problem somewhere.  It could be your ISP's problem, or it could be their provider's problem.

Thanks Jim.  I was fairly confident the problem wasn't on your end.  I'm able to download without a problem this evening, so maybe my ISP resolved the issue.
