Playing Now with Popups v1.0.0.7
« on: October 08, 2003, 09:39:24 am »

Here is a screenshot of the popup:

Here's the download link:

http://www.mrblobby.ukshells.co.uk/GetPlayingNow/gpn.exe

Here's what's new:

1) Removed transparency as was causing many issues :(
2) Show/hide timers now work correctly
3) Flickering with showing/hiding popup fixed
4) Added blend option that will blend the popup with the current background as opposed to sliding in (check the slimline skin for an example)

Check the GetPlayingNow.ini and the default skin config file for a description of each of the entries.

As I have mentioned before the setup will overwrite the Default skin, so if you have made any changes you had better back them up.

Any plans on reintroducing the transparency?

I'm kind of interested in the blending thing you mentioned, but I don't want to lose the transparency effect. It's not causing any problems here.

How about an ini setting to enable or disable the transparency completely?

I'll look at re-introducing it.

The problem is that I am now using the AnimateWindow API to do the scrolling of the popup (as it fixed a few other issues) but unfortunately it doesn't like transparent windows.

I love the fade-in effect.

Ditto that! The fade-in is awesome.

Thanks for a great plug-in :)

One thing that I noticed is that when I had the pop-up scrolling in and out, it left scroll lines behind on its way out. It only happened on this build... all of the previous ones worked fine.

Not a big deal for me, since I'll be using the fade-in from now on, but just so you know.

My info, if it helps:

The only time I have seen that is when the popup scrolls on top of MC, every other application work fine.

I put this down to a problem with MC's skinning engine.

If it happens on any other app let me know and I'll look at it again but since it's MS who's actually doing the window popup now I doubt there is much I can do.

RhinoBanga. Great plugin!! I really like the tool.

Perhaps this is not what this plug-in is meant for, but perhaps what i like the most is the potential of displaying the popping window at full screen since i use a wide screen and a wireless kb to control MC at the living room.  I've noticed, although, that when i'm doing this using a screen-sized bitmap for the background, my screen flickers at pop-out (fade-out).

Can you help me figure out if this happens to you? Thanks a lot for your time!

Keep up the good work

Try v1.0.0.8 as I fixed a few problems like that.

Also please post your results in that thread as it's a pain having to monitor more than one thread.
