Automatic Internet Lyrics Finder
« on: March 09, 2003, 04:24:14 am »

I have been playing with a new option i created yesterday for my plugin for MC9 "Chart and Lyrics Finder"

Currently It Uses A Database, But Yeterday I created a Web Spider (Sort Of) Where when your music Is Scanned You Can Also Allow It To Search A Web Site for Lyrics At:

http://www.LyricsStyle.Com

And If Found The Program Will Automaticly Add The Lyrics To The Id2v2 Field In Your MP3 And The MC9 Lyrics Field.

What I Would Like To Know Is If There Are Other Lyrics Sites That You Use, And What Is The Link To Them.

The Way The Program is currently working is I take the Artist Name And Song Name And Create A Web Link Then I Just Go Directly To The Page.

For Artist: Aaron Carter
For SongName: Another EarthQuake

http://www.lyricsstyle.com/a/aaroncarter/anotherearthquake.html

So the web site you sugest would need to work in the same manner, and the only thnig i would need to do would be to add the web side address.

using this option (not released yet) you will need to be running a pop-up blocker. the best i have found is called "AddsGone" the others seem to allow Adds to slip thru. with AddsGone you can always add it if one does slip thru.

they do have a demo located at

AdsGone Popup Killer and Banner Ad Stopper Software.

http://www.adsgone.com

It's Like $19.95

Okay King Here are some options...

www.azlyrics.com - an example url - http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/pearljam/once.html

www.getlyrics.com - an example url - http://www.getlyrics.com/lyrics.php?Artist=A&Album=Hi-Fi+Serious&Song=Nothing

There is a fantastic site called leos lyrics but it is not in a great format...

Hope these help!! ;D

I Have two right now

http://www.azlyrics.com
http://www.LyricsStyle.Com

I will check out the other.

You can select them from a combo box.

Seems To Be Working.

I Uploaded The New Version To The Plugin's Page.

=====================================

Under The Main Combo Box Now Get Lyrics From Database, And Get Lyrics From Internet.

On Setup Page 3 Is A Combo Box To Select What Internet Site.

I Was Thinking Maybe I Can Get it to try One, And If Not Found Try The Other.

How The Program Works Is It Navigates To The Lyrics Site, Gets The Lyrics Page, "Selects All", Copies It To A Rich Text Box. Looks For Beginning And End, Cuts Out The Trash, Then Saves It To MC9 & Media File Tags

Still Working On It, But It Is Something to Play With.

Here Is The Link:

Still Looking For More Lyrics Sites, Anyone?

Here are some additional web sites, working on either Artisit + Song or Artist or Song :

http://www.purelyrics.com (search on combination of Artist, Song and Album)
http://www.sing365.com (search for either Artist, Song or Album)
http://www.lyricsdot.ru (search on combination of Artist, Song and Album)
http://www.LyricsHome.com (search for either Artist, Song or Album)

Thanks, but none of them use a straight forward link

IE

Artistname\Songname.html

the two in the program are the only ones i have found to date.

if and when i am bored, what i may do, is create a database with all submitted web links.

I do think that I already have this OCX, but I will check when I get home tonight. Also, I will double check tonight, but I think that the .dll was missing from the plugins directory after I installed... Again, not sure if that's true, I'll check tonight.

When getting lyrics from lyricsstyle the last letter is being clipped when the message is added to the end...

When doing a batch lookup it appears that corresponding songs are being given the same lyrics...not sure whetehr this is a timing issue??

Adam

UPDATE:  This appears to be if the next song in an album fails it allocates the lyrics from the previous look up.  I will test this furhter and let you know the outcome...

Doesn't appear to do the repeating thing or the clipping with azlyrics...these appear to apply only when using lyrics style...
Any chance of trashing the titles when you trash the rest?? azlyrics puts a horrid CAPITAL LETTERS TITLE in...  And any chance of adding cleanup too?? ;D  I know I am a hard task master but I have been waiting for someone to write a program to do this for ages.  Was even considering doing it myself...I know reckless :)

Maybe, not sure i want to play with that, just yet, but i will look at it.

When i was day dreaming today, i was thinking about creating a program that would allow you to navigate to then cut and paste Artist name, song name and Lyrics and include that in a database.

Just to make it easy to collect Lyrics

It seems okay now...but I am still getting the repetition thing when using lyricsstyle.  Batched an album...Foos Colour and the shape tried first four tracks...1 and 2 got same lyrics, 3 and 4 got same...I had a look at the html from the azlyrics site and it appears there are two line breaks before the actual lyrics start...Could this help in junking the title??

Just a thought

Did you clear the fields first.

If you have lyrics already in there (anything over 19 chrs) the program will not overwrite it.

I don't see this problem, hard to tweek it, but i will keep looking.

Okay I watched it this time in the setup page and this is what is happening.  It finds lyrics for the first song on the list.  It shows the correct URL..Once finished it goes to the next URL but instead of copying the data it jumps straight to the third URL assigning the lyrics from the first URL to the second file also...it does not seem to wait on the even numbered pages but adds the previous lyrics and moves straight on...  Hope this helps... and now I must to bed...

This was with files that had never had lyrics before...  Like I said I watched it do it in the window.  Option to add and remove the title/Artist would be cool as woul option to add remove the disclaimer bit at the end or at least to shorten it/ customise it.  A one liner "Lyrics found by chart and lyric finder" would be fine but I think 10 lines (including <BR>'s is a bit long!!

Ok.

New Build.

I am Now:

1. Clearing A String
2. Clearing The Browser Window (That You Now Can't See).
3. Making Sure Browser Is Not Busy Before Moving On.

Try The Updated File To See If That Helps.

Okay King I have the new version up and running and tested it on a batch and it seems to work great now!!  I see you have added the options to add artist/album/title etc but they are greyed out...  Are they not functioning yet??

Sorry mate!!  I hope you're better soon...  I can always seem to find really irritating bugs... I guess its a gift ;D

Great work though...it is a really impressive plugin.  I would have loved to have been able to program something like it myself but wouldn't have known where to start.  Guess I am going to have study that SDK!!  Thinking of writing a plugin to put images into XPs folders...

Get Well Soon!!

Just An Update To Chart And Lyrics Finder (I Should Have This Out This Weekend)

Currently I Have 5 Lyrics Web Sites That Is Now Providing Info For Getting Lyrics.

The Program Will now look at one, if not found go to the next, then the next etc..... so there will be no need for the user to make any inputs etc.....

One of the sites is http://www.cowboylyrics.com for country music.

Here is a Pic showing you a scan of files, and the program finding the lyrics on Five(5) diffrent Lyrics sites.
