Chart Finder / Gonkulator Error
« on: December 28, 2002, 12:06:49 pm »

I am getting the following error when installing either Gonkulator or Chart Finder. (Chart Finder says "Chart Finder" instead of "Gonkulator")

I have Win98SE so that could be the problem. If there is a problem ... they both seem to be there. Chart Finder tells me I have the latest version. Gonkulator says the version is 0.0.5

do the programs work in MJ?

>> (Chart Finder says "Chart Finder"
>> instead of "Gonkulator"
What?

Should Chat Finder Say Gonkulator?

Maybe what you should do is uninstall the plugins in MJ and then try reinstaling.

I think the version Number is not a problem and maybe incorect in the build however

One thing i did do was Windows XP was not instaling the plugins so i put a Command in the J river Page to attempt a register this forced windows XP to see the plugin.

this may have a bad effect on windows 98

Didn't mean to confuse you King. Fact is, I was trying NOT to. I only meant that the error message for Chart Finder was the same except for the program name. I didn't want to post two separate pictures.
The version for Chart Finder is the latest one ... 1.0.19

I don't know if they work but they appear to. I haven't figured out what I want to do with them, yet.

It would be my guess that the only error is the error message itself.

Ok I got you

the program is installing, once it is done it goes back to the HTML Page basicly and Exicutes the next command.

The next command is register the installer.exe since i could not get it to show up on more recent builds of MC i forced it to do something and it then shows up in MC PLUGINS.

I ASKED THE QUESTIONS I NEEDED TOO BUT NO ANSWER FROM J RIVER.

I think they're more or less on vacation except as a personal choice. That they check in at all says something for their dedication.

well I know they have bigger problems then mine.

I am just waiting for the right moment to bring it up again about the broken link on a HTML page that I told them about in nov (still broken), and problems with the SDK (things that don't work), And the install of plug-ins issue.

PS: I did not mean to have the caps on in the other message I must have hit the caps lock on the line before the last.

My spam box is full.

I made some changes to your files and it works for me now.  Two things.

The names of the files were wrong.  Instead of chart_finder.mjp and chart_finder.zip, they were something like chart_finder_ - _somethingelse.mjp.  This gets created when you upload your plug-in.

Also, it didn't work until I added a version #.  That's probably our bug.

Here's the file that works.

Name=Chart Finder 1.0.019^M
Action=UNZIPDIR^M
Version=1.0
URL=http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/mj_data/plugins/chart_finder.zip^M
^M
[Action]^M
File1=Chart Finder - Installer.exe^M
File1Action1=RUN^M
File1Action2=REGISTER^M

JimH

Note: File1Action2=REGISTER^M

I need to force a register to get MJ to see the plugin when using a installer program. this is trying to register a file that should not be registered but it works. it seems Non-Windows XP users see this as an error.

it would be nice if we just had a commad to force A Register so MC can see the plugins if installed from an installer program. It seems to me this was not needed in older versions Of MJ.

Or

Could someone look at this (when someone has time) and when a user goes to plug-ins that MC looks to see if there is anything that needs to Register and just do it.

Now if this is done from a ZIp file it is fine, up to the point that the Registery.reg file does not like windows 98 \ maybe windows Me.

this has been a problem for a long time.

Now from the same page the link is:

http://www.musicex.com/mediajukebox/mj_data/plugins/chart_finder_-_installer.mjp

Which gives a file not found error.

No i'm doing ok, two weeks without beer, wine, gin etc....

The only problem now is I need to jump on the tread mill. I turned it on and watched it go round and round. not sure about getting on it when it is running.

Maybe I should pay someone to get on it for me.

If you watch it long enough, it's kind of like being on it briefly.
Just kidding. I'm sorry you're having problems to that extent. I've got a few, too. It comes with age, I suppose. At least we're alive to go through it.
