Highlighting playing File in AW and PN
« on: October 09, 2003, 01:50:57 pm »

Why isn't it possible, to increase the contrast of playing file/not playing file in AW? Or give it another background.
Even in Playing Now the highligting is not good. There is the icon in front of the playing file, but what about when I rate my files and my rating field is not on the screen? I have to scroll and hardly can see the differnt colours of playing (dark blue?) and not playing (black).
This is the last step wich has to be done, before you can use MC on partys without DJs (everyone can chose songs). Up to 9.1 it was to difficult to explain to everbody "You have to drag and drob it..." or "You have to do a right klick...", "...but if you wanna see what you have done, you have to click on playing now and then back to the libray". Was to heavy. Now it would be nearly perfekt, if only the contrast would be increased.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE. You are doing such a great job and you guys are fixing bugs every day, from on to the other release. Please make this little (or perhpas big?) cosmetic thing!
Take me to paradise ;-)

couldn't agree more...it seems that all the designers go for style rather than ease-of-use. I often find myself editing the .xml file to correct these things, but I realize most people don't want to venture there. And the dark backgrounds with light text is going to damage your vision much more quickly than what staring at a CRT already does.

I like my playing now file (current) to be as red as red gets. No missing that. I go for very light (usually plain white) bg with a very dark or black highlight bar. For highlighted non-current file text, I use a bright neon blue or green (depending on the skin). The blue works very well in Blue Steel, and while the red current file text clearly clashes with the skin, that's sort of the point now, isn't it?

Could you perhaps tell me, how to change the color of the playing file in AW and PN editing the main.xml file? And give perhaps the number for "red as red gets"?!
Would make me very  :D (happy)

well, here's what I did:

1. copy the blue steel folder to somewhere else, rename folder to Blue steel 2 , then move it back to the mega skins directory.
2. open the main.xml file in the blue steel 2 dir, using notepad.
3. find the <tree> and <list> areas about two thirds down the page, right next to each other.

here are my values for tree:
Colors Text="000000" Back="ECECF3" SelectedText="6585FD" SelectedBack="000000"

and for list:
Colors Text="000000" Back="ECECF3" SelectedText="6585FD" SelectedBack="000000"
Current="FD0202"

change the values as you like for differing colors...good luck.
