Ripping: Saving Files to Base Directory
« on: October 17, 2003, 05:47:31 pm »

When I rip a CD to harddrive using MC, the program automatically saves EACH song as a separate folder.  IS there any way I can save each song (APE file) in ONE folder, which would be the album?

For example, I'd like to have one folder entitled "Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" that contains all of the songs (APE files) in that album, rather than having 15 different folders containing one song each.

On a related matter, if I move around files in the base directory, I noticed that it breaks the link between the media library and music file.  Is there  an way to update the media library to detect the new file code / file name.

Thanks

Sounds like you don't have your filenaming setup quite right. Go to Tools/Options/File Naming & Location. For example, I have mine setup like this:

Base Path: D:\Music
Directory Rule: [Artist]\[Album]
Filename Rule: [Album] - [Track #] - [Artist] - [Name]

Use a \ whenever you want to create a new sub-directory. Also, note that if you want to rip a multiple artist cd you would need to change the Directoy Rule to just [Album], or you'll end up with folders for every artist.
