not able to Rip CDs
« on: December 18, 2002, 06:41:14 pm »

I've been trying to Rip CDs and keep getting this error "Open Drive Failed. Parameter out of range."
I can play the CD fine. Actually I can do everything except Rip.  Any ideas anyone??

Please display your system info which can be copied from MJ8/MJ9 "system info" in the HELP menu.

Do you have the lastest ASPI layer?

Need version. There's got to be something there that will tell you version number. How about Help>About Media Jukebox. Are your registered? If you are (and with v7), then you can download & install v8 B393. You may have v6 (which I've never seen) or earlier.

Don't install v8 over v7. Save/backup license (*.rrg) and uninstall v7 THEN install v8.

I'd recommend updating your "ASPI" software. It's available at this link (check out the installation instructions):

http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70&filekey=aspi_471a2.exe

The version number listed in your system info (4.55) will be replaced by 4.60 which may work better on your system. Aspi is the software that communicates between programs like MJ and the CD drives (and some other devices like scanners).

If that doesn't do it, email me and I can send you a diagnostic program that may shed light on the problem.
