iTunes?
« on: October 16, 2003, 03:51:18 pm »

Is there any way to play the Apple music store purchased files using media center?  If not, is it possible to do...or will it be possible to do in the future?  Maybe through launching and external program?

There's a note on the apple itunes site that Quicktime 6.4 is required to play the Itunes downloads in other players.

I would hope this will work with Media Center.

I was trying to find out the same thing.  The Quicktime sidebar talks about AAC files requiring Quicktime, what about others?  I downloaded the iTunes software and it appears that you can purchase files in MP3 and WAV formats as well.

I'd be inclined to download the WAV and convert to MP3 myself.  It would seem that MC should be able to read the WAV, but Apple doesn't make it clear what you can do (or not do) with the downloaded files with other software or portable players. (Other than Apple)

Nope, you can't download iTMS tunes in WAV, thats for importing CD's.  You can only download itunes stuff in protected AAC, BUT you can burn them to CD and the re-rip back to mp3 without any much loss possibly, but I haven't tried it.

What about directly converting AACs to MP3?

Cannot convert the "protected" AAC's to anything.

BUT burning a CD and then ripping into MC9 works fine!
