don't get CD-Text on burned CD
« on: December 20, 2002, 03:39:33 pm »

Not sure why I am not getting the Artist name and Title written as CD-Text when I burn a new CD using MJ. My burner does support it, and is listed in the list (its a BusLink 40x-12x-48x).  When I used Nero 5 burning software, it did write the filenames to the CD and they display when we play it on the car player.  It just says track xx when playing the CD created with MJ.  I selected the Options button during the burn process, but don't really see anything that I could select to change whether it writes text or not.  I believe it allowed me to enter a CD title and artist, which it defaulted to various, but that is only for the Cd, and not for each track.. No doubt I'm doing something wrong..
Thanks for any help..

There's an option under the burner options you have to disable.

I think it's 'use internal burner' or 'user internal aspii' or something very similar along those lines.
You have to disable that option and it will then burn the cd-text.

Well, under Settings/Options/CD Writer Settings there is a line that says "Use Generic Driver", which has a black dot inside the square, but the text is dim, so I can't change that value. Below that line, it has an option "Use internal ASPI layer (req restart) and that line is also dimmed out, so I can't change it either. It is currently not selected.  I am assuming (and I know thats not always a good thing to do..) that MJ is not using the driver that I thought it would (under the golden-hawk db), but rather is using a generic driver, and maybe that is why it won't write the text.. guess i'm not sure why it doesn't use the correct driver? The options it will let me chg are Test Mode, eject CD after burn, Normalize before encoding, and Decode mp3 directly to CD. I tried to select the "Detect" button, but it doesn't seem to do anything.. and i also selected the check for updates, and it says i have everything.. i wonder if you have to purchase the full blown product for it to work correctly??

the generic burner In MJ* does not support CD-Text

if you load ASPI drivers you might be able to use the Goldenhawk Burner that is built into MJ. In MC9 the generic driver can burn CD-Text
