Media Server crashes
« on: October 30, 2003, 05:07:24 pm »

I am connecting to a remote Media Server from another machine with Media Center.  When I select the Playing Now screen while a song is playing the Media Server will crash.

I have also been getting crashes with Media Center recently.  Started about 2 builds ago.  Sice MServer is at home, I don't know it's crashed until the next morning when I get home, but it's happened 2 days in a row now.  I start MServer when I leave for work and at some point in the night it crashes.

Any recent changes?  Windows updates, for example?

Can anyone else confirm or not confirm amwoza's report?

It might be related to songs with associated cover images.  During one crash there was a message on the Media Server that a cover image was missing (but it wasn't).

For more discussion on this, check out the thread I started titled "Media Server crashes."  (My thread has the exact same name as this one except that it has a period at the end of the title.)  It was started on the 10/28, but as of right now it's still appearing on the first page

I commented in that thread about some issues with album art over the Media Server as well.  I agree that there may be a link between the actual crashes and album art, but regardless of this I can say for sure that there are definitely some problems with album art over the Media Server.

We'll see if we can find the problem.

From the other post, it sounds like John Gateley already made the fix in the next build (9.1.292).

Just downloaded 9.1.292 and the problem is gone.

Thanks!
