Ejecting CD should just stop playback
« on: November 04, 2003, 12:42:47 pm »

Currently when you pop a CD out of your player, MC 9.1 continues to play the CD for several seconds and then pops up a dialog saying:

  <Name> Not Found
The volume labeled <Name> was not found.
Would you like to try again?
  Yes No Cancel

I think this is the wrong behavior for several reasons:

1. I set my CDs to auto-play, and routinely use my system without turning on the monitor. However if I eject the CD before it completes, I have to turn on the monitor to cancel this dialog. Otherwise the next CD won't play.

2. What's the difference between No and Cancel? Actually, No seems seems broken, since it just puts up the dialog again.

3. MC should detect the moment the CD is ejected, and stop playback immediately (rather than continue to play the buffered portion).

Making this change will allow MC to act more like a CD player replacement.
