Offline Ripping/Online Tagging
« on: November 10, 2003, 02:29:32 pm »

Is there a way in MJ8 to rip a bunch of CDs, entering basically no information, but having MJ store the CD's serial number so that at a later date when I'm on the internet I can batch-tag the ripped files using the YADB lookup?

I am travelling constantly and would like to be able to do ripping when I may not be somewhere where there's an internet connection and not have to type in the names manually. Then when I get somewhere that there's an internet connection, I can connect up and "batch-YADB-tag" all the files I've ripped.

If MJ can't do this, is there another program that can?

Try the reverse.

Insert the disks one by one while you're connected.  MJ will look up the CD's from YADB.

Wait to rip them until later when you're not connected.

Thank you for your reply!

So MJ would just somehow remember the tag info even though there are no files ripped?

Just so I'm sure I understand:
When I'm at a place where there's internet, I just put in the CD, let YADB fill in the names, and then remove the CD?

Later, when I put the CD in again and I'm NOT connected to the internet, MJ has "remembered" the names and I just go ahead and rip?

That's right.  Should work.
