Analyze Audio for Video

Is there any way to analyse the audio of a video?  As I'm going back through some archived cartoons I have, I've noticed that there are some rather significant differences in audio volume.  It would be great if I could use Replay Gain to fix this when playing.

Aye, I agree!!  I don't care much for the BPM or Tempo, but having replay gain available for when I put all of my SpongeBob on shuffle would be a VERY good thing.  Some are loud, some aren't... worse so than my music files were.
