AM/FM Tuner Support
« on: November 12, 2003, 12:57:13 pm »

I read in the forum that you might add support for FM tuners. Could you give us the status of that support? Would it also be support for AM/FM tuners or just FM? I want to try to use Media Center for a whole house audio system using the multizone capability and NetRemote running on wireless Pocket PC type devices as control stations. It needs to have AM/FM capability to make it useful to the wife. Anybody tried anything like this before? Thanks in advance for any help or ideas.

I'm writing an input plug-in for my FM card. So, I'll be able to select an station in HairStyle mode.

Jim,
Do y'all plan on adding AM/FM support to MC?

Thanks.

Well JimH, I have a Gemtek radio card (http://www.gemtek.com.tw), and it came with an DLL that exposes all that I need to write my plug-in.
I've made a litte program to test and it works fine! This job will take 2 steps:

1. Write my input plugin that will read an plain text file (.rad extension) with Frequency, Station name  and others attributes required by MC;
In the future, I'll alter this plug-in to record in real time from the line-in, so MC will receive a stream of audio to process.

2. Write an interface plugin to manage my station files;

I hope it works!
