Request: Analyze audio during playback
« on: November 13, 2003, 03:43:45 pm »

I know it is usual to analyze all files after importing them into MC.
But I'm a little bit lazy and I don't want to care about it.

Usually I'll check all imported files and I'll listen to them at least once.

I wonder whether it is possible to execute automatically the 'analyze audio' function in a low priority thread for the file I'm currently listening to?

I would like to choose in the setting section:
- Don't analyze file during playback
- Analyze files during playback but skip analyze files
- Analyze always files
(that's useful if the algorithm for the analysis has changed)

I assume that it is currently not done because the playback module can't be modified?
Do you think it is feasible to use a second thread to do it?
Or is there another technical reason?

Thanks,
Waenna

Hi Waenna,
Why don't you check analyse audio while ripping it hardly seems to slow down the ripping process on my machine. It is set and forget.  Hope this helps.

Yep but you have to do it again after a function improvement e.g. if the BPM value is calculated differently. Applying it again to 9000 files does not make fun :-\.

Often you don't have access to a CD e.g. for free MP3s and surely you  want to  have the advantages of the analysis :).
