Media Center 9.1.303 available
« on: November 13, 2003, 05:02:29 pm »

This is the latest build.  There may be some known (and unknown) bugs.

The latest known stable version of 9.1 is here:
http://www.musicex.com/mediacenter/download.html

The latest build of 9.1 is here:
[build pulled by JimH -- probably won't be out tonight]

9.1.303 History
1. Changed: Removed pane "smart-sizing". (will return later)
2. Changed: Sorting > Ignore Articles off by default.
3. Fixed: MC would not gracefully handle files over 1:40:00.
4. Fixed: MC could hang while playing some rare URL's where the server abruptly stopped sending data.
5. Fixed: On some systems, a removable drive Handheld could disappear after file upload.
6. Fixed: "Use 'Album Artist (auto)' for 'Artist'" option would be ignored when manually clicking column headers.
7. Fixed: Deleting items from the tree could crash MC in some rare cases.
8. Fixed: TDK DVD drives are now supported for burning.
9. Fixed: Speed displayed for DVD drives was incorrect.
10. Fixed: Certain errors in CD burning process would cause two pop-up windows to appear, with garbage in the second pop-up.

9.1.302 History
1. NEW: Album Thumbnails now sortable in any user defined way.
2. NEW: Added "Ignore Articles" sorting option. (ignores a, an, and the when sorting)
3. NEW: Added "Use 'Album Artist (auto)' for 'Artist'" sorting option.
4. NEW: Added sort option to sort empty values last. (so empty tracks aren't always at the top of Media Library)
5. NEW: Added "Load: Date Imported" to sort preset menu.
6. Changed: Sorting options in separate dialog. (available from right-click > List Style or Options > Tree & View)
7. NEW: Panes automatically "smart size" when there isn't enough room available.
8. NEW: Added support for skinning splitters in mega-me skins.
9. Fixed: ASIO plugin could cause "too much spent data" message in some cases. (hopefully fixed -- let us know)
10. Fixed: Hairstyle could crash when navigating an empty submenu.

Dunno if this has been dealt with or not. In the article sorting there needs to be some way to stipulate bands that should keep their articles in the sort.  I now have A Perfect Circle sorted under C...go figure :)  I could understand it appearing under P but C???

This is in 302 so if thi has been fixed in 303 I wil remove this post...

Please destroy the build if you've downloaded it.  It's not safe to use.

Thanks.

Yeah, smartlists and playlists seem to have gotten blasted too. That's what I get for having a hair-trigger download finger  :)

It seems to be working here. Mostly. Some graphics are missing, though.

I even did a system restore, no luck.

Completely uninstalled, deleted all registry items. rebooted, reinstalled build 291 (restored my license again),
still bad.

No TV tuner anymore :(-

How to get it back like it was ?

If you will drop me an e-mail ( jimh @ jriver.com ) and promise to keep it quiet, I'll tell you how to fix your install.

I take it you used the XP restore? I have found that to be really useless.
I have Roxio GoBack and was able to fix everything with 1 click (well maybe 3) you may want to look into it. It is now owned and operated by Symantec.

Guys if you are having problems email Jim and get him to tell you how to sort it.  XP Restore will not work...  It is not a big deal to sort once you know what you are doing.

There is a lot of cool stuff lying around here waiting to be released.  It will happen over the next several months.

I know this has been addressed before, but I really think its more intuitive and more functional to have the action window show the CURRENTLY PLAYING track info WHEN the player is in the "PLAYING NOW" mode.  Also I'd bet most people would prefer that the action window remember the settings from the previous session rather than reverting back to the home page.

Thanks,
Mike

The remove article sorting does not appear to be filtering properly.  When  have all selected the artists are sorted ignoring the articles, if however I filter the sort down a level eg select B artists I would expect to see the beatles.  However I don't I see the beatles under S as they appear at the top of the S-U section...they are actually still ebing filtered under T but appear at the top of this group.  A Perfect Circle appears under P in a "all" sort but under C in a group sort.  Hope this makes sense

Just noticed another bug...well it may be a feature but ;D  I have my library set up like so : Media Library
                                Audio
                                Disco
                                Images
                                Video
                                Advanced
If I make a change to the columns in Images and select change for this location and all sub locations I would expect all images views to be changed as they are children of Images.  What also happens though is that all the schemes below are changed also so all the video schmes are changed and all the advanced schemes are changed to.  They are not sub locations of Images.  They are hierachichally at the same level and so surely should not be changed...

Hi guys, sorry if this has to be posted somewhere else, but here it goes:

I'm still using 302 and i'd swear i read somewhere that the "dragging files to Playing now" issue (Action Window) was fixed.

I still come into the problem that when i drag files there, it keeps resetting the list to the first position. This is kind of annoying, at least when one has to scroll down and drag to the bottom-most part of the list.

Thanks again!

renaming a tree item doesn't refresh the list (F5).

unable to remove sorting on playlist groups.

~sort=[random] isn't applied to a smartlist when using [playlist] inside. have to add another ~sort=[random] even if no sorting is applied. this also applies to view schemes and the bug noted above.

expanded tree (populate) and panes refresh on each expand/pane causing errors (no files shown) when using limiters.

right-click, paste (&arrow) does not work unless there is a left click first. ie: nothing is pasted when there should be.
