Jukebox Jitters.(It won't work!)
« on: December 12, 2002, 04:54:08 pm »

Yesterday I tried to rip a CD with MJ. It worked, like every other time. The second CD I tried gave this message.......

Runtime Error!

(Path to Mediajukebox.exe)

abnormal program termination

This message pops up in a window titled "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library", and then terminates. EVERY time I click on my CD drive from MJ >:(. I haven't the slightest idea why. Any suggestions? It's version 7.1.241, running on Windows XP at 850mhz.

If you have a v7 license (MediaJukebox7.rrg) then you can apply that to v8.

Download 8.0.393...copy your *.rrg file to someplace safe...uninstall MJ...update your ASPI...install v8...copy *.rrg back to your MJ dir...restore license

10 :)

Well, it turns out that CDDB was causing all the trouble. I disabled that, and now it works fine. I never use that auto ID stuff anyways. 8)

Good.  Just so we know, could you try using YADB?

It's possible we've missed blocking access to something that no longer works for some people.

I'm glad it works for you.

Well, I suppose I'd have to upgrade My version of MJ in order to use YADB. What's the difference/benefit? I'll try to upgrade later this week, and see how things go.

I also discovered that the older version of MJ has trouble linking to the software needed to do certain things. It can't find the area of your web site for the mp3 encoder anymore. I was able to show it what to do. Keeping old tech alive is quite the challenge!  ;)
