mediaserver security
« on: November 19, 2003, 03:40:56 pm »

I want to open a port on my home firewall to allow connections to media server so I can access it from work. Assuming I use the authentication built in to mediaserver, are there any security implications??

Does your firewall allow you to define per-application settings? Explicit permissions for the media server app to receive and transmit data on a specified port range would seem the best route.

Hi JIm,

There are no known security issues with Media Server.
Media Server was designed with security in mind.

Anytime you open a hole in the firewall, you are putting yourself at risk, we've tried to minimize the risk.
