This is my first post.  My question is:  will Media Jukebox encode and decode the new MP3Pro files?  I just recently obtained an RCA boombox (RCD148) which is supposed to play MP3PRO files, but I have no means of producing one to check it out.  I think I read that a competing jukebox (musicmatch) was able to create MP3PRO files.  Why can MediaJukebox not do it?  I like many features of MediaJukebox and would prefer not to buy both software packages.

There is no MP3Pro plugin (reason? little demand for it). You may be able to use a WinAmp 2.x input plugin (if it exists) with MJ . If dinky files are your goal, then (dare I say), look at the wma format, which should be compatible with your RCA. Ogg Vorbis isn't, but it is my top (lossy) recommendation at ANY bitrate (LAME mp3's using the presets are right up there as well).

I understand if there isn't much of a demand for it, but doesn't it make sense to have it anyway in case people want to use it?  I know for a fact that most every other media player out there that doesn't already have the plugin built into their software offers it as an additional download.  It just seems much more sensible.  I am a student and I keep all my music on my laptop, but in the interest of space, I encode using MP3Pro.  MusicMatch Jukebox has made alot of changes that I dislike, and the problem is that no other company makes a better player in my opinion, and I have tried them all from MyMP3Pro from Pinnacle to Magix MP3 Maker to Winamp.  They all lack MusicMatch's great organization abilities.  Your organization isn't as good as theirs, but it's very close and your player sounds better, with the exception of the MP3Pro playback.   I think that you guys should reconsider the position on MP3Pro.  The Winamp MP3Pro plugin only works if you have Winamp installed, and I don't want to have to have 2 different media players installed just so I can listen to my music at the file size I desire.  

Like I said, you guys make a good product and I would love to be able to give you guys my money and buy the plus version, but until you guys have an MP3Pro plugin, its not worth my while.  I know I am just one person, but like I said, its more logical to offer it.  it wouldn't cost you guys a fortune to develop the plugin, and you guys might end up selling more plus versions

Actually, I think the main reason that MP3Pro isn't supported is due to the cost of licensing.

Well, I am not sure that is true or not, but I see your point.  But MusicMatch Jukebox is the bestselling media player out there, and like I said, if you guys had MP3Pro support, then I would switch.

You gotta spend money to make money.  I think that it would be a good idea.  Almost every other company is supporting it if you go to the homepage for coding technologies, the company that developed MP3Pro, they list all the software and hardware updates for companies adopting the format.  Why are you guys behind?

We don't see MP3Pro as a mainstream format, regardless of the licensing cost.  Sorry we can't help you.
