I've always been using Audiograbber for ripping c.d.'s as it's quite handy in all ways.
But as I want to make MediaCenter my media center I want to use its ripfunction too.
I do that at home and I don't have internet overthere. Apart from that: the c.d.'s I rip are not always findable in YADB or CDDB or whatever.

But still I want to change the filenames of the to be ripped c.d. before I start ripping (and not, like now, afterwards throught the explorer).
I can't find the option to do, though.

Now:
1) is it really not possible to rename files in ripmode before the actual ripping starts?
2) if yes: how?
3) if no: is it on the list of things to be built in? Would be my big wish!

When you insert the CD, MC will lookup the CD info (YADB or CDplayer.ini) and will display the results in the column view. If you're not connected to the internet you are likely to be presentd with a a grid filled with Unknown Artist - Unknown Album, etc.

Now you can edit whatever you want using the columns or the action window... changing the name of the artist, filling custom fields, etc.

After that, the ripped files will be tagged with the attributes that you have set and named according to the rule you have specified in Options -> Ripping. You can also change this rule for the specific CD when the ripping dialogue appears, clicking on Options (I'm not at home now and don't recall if this is the right name).

Once you are happy with the results, just start the ripping process and you're set.

First of all though: this dialog-box does never show up.
Secondly: the options don't show such possibilities.

The dialog box should appear when you click on "Rip CD". It's the one with the check-boxes next to each track and various buttons at the bottom, one of them it's the "options" if I recall correctly... and one of the "options" is the rule for naming the files. Is that the one that never shows up?

And you just may find the CDs in YADB. I listen to a lot, of what I though were obscure Japanese artists and probably 90% are found.

YADB is definitely getting better every day.

Seems like a few people use AudioGrabber / MC combination.  A while ago, Audiograbber held its head high as the defacto grabber program.  Are the differences between this and MC grabbing still as great?  I think I too would like to have a single music "Centre".

I think I got the solution to my problem.
One can change titles from within the tracklisting-pane of the c.d. in MC.

Haven't checked yet with real ripping then, but that's probably the way to do it.

I think you are making life hard for your self doing it that way.  It would be much easier to rip the CD, then manually edit the track/artist/album names etc by pressing F2=edit in the main file listing.  You can easily navigate between fields using down arrow, tab etc.  

Then when complete just select all tracks and Library Tools> Rename files from properties.  At this point you can also choose whether or not to have MC move the files into a specific directory e.g. artist\album.
