Skip to next when playing back
« on: November 25, 2003, 01:43:07 pm »

I want MC to automatically skip to the next track after finishing the previous one.
Noticed a few playback options, reshuffle, continuous, but one way or the other I seem to overlook this simple feature, behave like every normal CD-player. ..
I checked the website and the help-file b4 asking here, as this such a simple question, but cud not find the solution.

TIA

This is default behaviour as far as I know.  I wonder if you are doing something wrong.  Do you see the list of tracks you wish to play in the Playing Now list?

wulffra,

I'm not sure I understand the question. Are you referring to CDs in your drive, or albums in your library?  Regarding the library, MC will proceed to the next track after playing the previous one, but it will do so based on what's in "Playing Now." If you want to play a specific album in your library, you have to send the whole album to "Playing Now." You can't just double click on the first track, because that will only send that track to the "Playing Now." You can either select all tracks and right click > Send to Playing Now, or you can drag all files to the "Playing Now" area of the Action Window, or you can double click the album title in your library (in the pane).

I'm not sure if this helped, though I hope it did.   :)

Thank you -
a) I am playing tracks from the MC-library, not from a CD
b) there is nothing in my 'Playing now', the option to send something /add
something to playing now I already tried, but nothing happened.

I took following steps:
from an artist I selected say 10 tracks
then RMB
Window appears with 'Add to Playing now' / 'Send to'..' with again Add to playing
now, play and playlist and some other options.

I tried both:
Add to playing now
Send to: -> Add to playing now

In Playing now there are only
'Find CD'
and
'Artists Info'
no tracks nothing.

tks for any further advices.

Marcel.

Select Tools>Options>General.  Under Behaviour - Jump on Play select 'Playing now (always)'.

Go to your media library and highlight some tracks.
Right click> Play (or Add to Playing now).
The Playing Now list will be displayed (Look at the list not the tree).

Do you see the files you asked to play?
In the bar at the top do you see the slider moving along?
Do you have the volume turned up?

JLee's suggestion is a good one. That way you'll always be brought there immediately.

In the tree, you have to actually click on the words "Playing Now" and you will be transferred to that screen. The "Find CD" and "Artist Info" that you're seeing are sort of sub-tasks that can be performed on the selections in "Playing Now."

Hope this helps,

Many thanks - it worked !
Great.
I think though it should be added to the options, like shuffle,
continuous, etc.
'Skip to next track'-option shd also be there, maybe some time in future..

Thanks again.
best regards,
Marcel.

I hate to say this but you don't really have a suggestion to submit.  MC works like that as a default.  I'm not sure what you did wrong but if you select some files and right click>play it will play them one by one without any further intervention.

I suspect that you have MC set up inappropriately in Tools> Options> General.  Now that you know how to look for the files that are currently listed in Playing Now you can experiment with the options to see which suits you best.

Look at the double click option.  If that says 'Play' you may want to change it to 'Add to playing now'.  Whenever you select Play this plays only the track or tracks you've selected and it wipes out any other tracks that were cued up in the playing now list.

You are not the only to be confused by this but if you check out the help file (Help> How to> Play files) it's all there.

What version are you using?  Did you try updating?

Hi there,
I am using the latest version of MC9.
Under options/general I have now set behavior
Jump on Play: Playing now Always
Double Click: Replace Playing Now (Single)
Play Button: Play Playing Now

The idea I had was to double click a track and from that point on MC shd start to start play track by track all that is in front right there, instead of sending the tracks to playing now.
Maybe 'my idea' though logical is posing problems for whatever reason and the way MC is handling this now (sending to playing now) is better. I am not sure.

thanks anyway,
brgds/Marcel.
