Replay Gain info for MPCs is gone
« on: November 15, 2002, 09:48:52 pm »

I was Replay Gaining some new files today and noticed that the RG info for all the MPC files (over 1000) that had been previously analyzed has mysteriously disappeared.  Any ideas?

How do you know they're gone? For instance...VorbisGain tags the Ogg file...but whether those tags can be "seen" in MJ is unknown to me (besides the fact that it would ignore them anyway). MJ only understands MJ RG. MP3Gain actually alters the data in the MP3 file, so it works in MJ.

edit > re-read your post...your using MJ's RG on the MPC's? If so then I don't know

Yes, they are all files that have previously been analyzed with MJ Replay Gain.

For what it's worth, I have always had problems with MPC and MJ Replay Gain.  I used to get constant crashes when analyzing MPCs, but whatever was causing that seems to have been fixed somewhere along the way.  Now, this problem.  The re-analyzation seems to be going fine, though, since it's not crashing all the time.  Maybe it's a sign I should stick to OGG and APE.  :)

Well, it happened again.  This time, though, I think I know what caused it.  I renamed the directory where my library resides and then in MJ I re-imported the tracks from the new directory and then updated the library to Remove files which do not exist.  Now, all the Replay Gain info for the MPCs (over 1000) in my library is gone, however, the RG info for MP3, Vorbis and Monkey's was retained.  It's only MPC that has a problem.

I"m not sure, but if you're a little brave, it may be worth trying version 9.  If it still doesn't work there, report it again and we'll get it fixed.

Thanks Rob.
