MC Needs Plug-In for IPod Killer --> IHP-120 by Iriver
« on: December 01, 2003, 02:15:14 pm »

After researching and waiting for a "better Ipod", I've finally found it, the new iRiver IHP-120 MP3 Portable Jukebox.  Identical size and weight but with 14+ hours of battery life, fm radio and Wav/MP3 recording!

PLEASE, somebody tell me you're working on an MC Plugin??

Thanks!

I actually just bought one as well and I am looking for a good media software.  Guess I'll have to wait on this one if it won't support the player...oh well!

I got 27 days of demo to wait and see if support comes out  ;)

I've just got my iHP-140 today and like all of you, I'm looking forward to being able to sync it with MC.

Does the player appear on the system as a removable drive?

If so, MC (10.0.73) should be able to work with the unit without any problems.

So, I can transfer the files over, but how do I get the same [artist]/[album] directory structure on the iHP?  Are people using a flat file system on the player, or a structured one?

I'd like to know how compatible the iRiver iHP-140 or iHP-120 is with Media Center as I am upgarading my iPod to a iHP-140. If anyone can provide insight it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
AJ

The iRiver HP-140 is easily the best HD MP3 I've seen ... all my iPod-owning friend are very jealous ... the only aspect of the 'pod that beats the iRiver is the design.

The 140 works with MC as an external hard drive but more integration would be very welcome. At the moment I have to use MC to transfer the files to the 140 and then use the 140's own (very poor) management util to update its internal database of tracks. This either means going and finding all the folders containing the new tracks and adding them individually (painful if, like me, you tend to add a number of CDs at a time) or update the entire database from scratch (which takes several minutes). There is also a 52 character limit on folder and track filenames which means any file/folder names over this length have to be hand-edited to fit.

*Please* could we have an iRiver plug-in that updates the database while transferring the files and also truncates excessively long filenames? I really like MC, but the first MC/WinAmp/MediaJukebox-alike that offers proper iRiver integration will be the one to get my money ...
