I bought Nero because it had the AAC/MP4 encoder that would work with ExactAudioCopy (EAC).  Then I went through all the work to get the command line options to work.  I name all my mp4 files with Artist - Album - Number - Title; i.e. "Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell II- Back Into Hell - 02 - Life Is A Lemon And I Want My Money Back.mp4".  I import the files in Jukebox and it skips over each one.  If I rename this to something under 64 characters it works just fine in Jukebox or MediaCenter.  Am I missing an mp4 standard because currently this is totally unacceptable!!    I guess I'll just have to go back to nero's crappy NeroMix player.  If someone knows why this isn't working, please let me know, otherwise I'll have to rethink my whole naming strategy to something like "track number - track title".  64 characters, ugghhh.

If the encoder is stand-alone, you can use it from MC.

I just tried it with the latest version of Jukebox 8.4.?? and MediaCenter 9.1 and mp4's of greater than 64 chars in the filename do not work.  So while 110 chars may work for some things, sadly not on mp4's.  ( Note: This is for playing mp4's, not encoding. )

MC and MJ use Apple's Quicktime for playback of mp4 files. Quicktime does not support filenames > than 64 characters. This is a limitation and is a pain, but it is Apple's problem to solve.
