Start Page for v10
« on: December 19, 2003, 03:52:03 pm »

Hi MC,

I would like to have my own home page, so that when MC starts up, it points to my home page.  How can I do this?

I'd like to have my own BMW, so that it starts up and gets warmed up for me on cold days.
You solve mine and I'll solve yours!!   ;D

I believe it may be what is stored in the folder known as:
C:\Program Files\J River\Media Center\Data\Default InetPage

I would back it up somewhere beforehand so you can repair any damages.   ;)

A search for "web page" in the help file produced many hits, one of which was "Start".  Here's what it says:

Quote
The Start button displays the default web page, which you can change.  It is located in...\J River\Media Center\Data\WebPages\Default\index.htm.

Changing this doesn't seem to have any effect. I'd like to set my own start page as well. Or at least be able to view another page (in addition to the hard-wired start page) from within MC.

Also, that same help file entry goes on to say: "From time to time you may want to download an updated Start page from JRiver. Simply right click on "Start" and then click "Update Web Page..."." But there's no longer a context menu on the Start node.

Note that I also cracked open MediaJukebox.exe with a resource editor to see if this was a string I could change :). No dice. I couldn't find it anyway. And I didn't see any corresponding string constants stored anywhere in the file. Couldn't find anything in the registry either.

skidoo.  You are right.  Changing the index in both the default and homepage folders did nothing. Must be broken.  I know this used to work, because I had it set up to display my own homepage (granted, that was a while ago--could even have been with v8).

The answer, my friends, is seven pages deep now.....

waaaay back, with beta release .012, in the changelog.....
it said...
Quote
6. Changed: Start webpage now goes directly to a web server
7. Changed: TV Tuner introduction page has been moved to a web server.

I have to admit, this caught my eye. I was certainly not enthusiastic about it, but decided not to say anything 'till it became more clear where this was heading.
No two ways about it though, MC10 now phones home and I, for one, don't like that too much.

Anyways, that's why custom start pages don't work anymore :D
