Schedule recording of internet radio
« on: December 05, 2002, 09:13:21 am »

I'm trying to figure out how to schedule MJ to record an internet radio program. You can specify "Start recording" as the task and mixer as the source but there doesn't seem to be any way to specify that MJ should connect to a specific radio station and start playing.

You might be able to pull this off, but it'll take a little work. If you follow the link to the web page for the radio station you want, you should find a link to the audio stream. Don't click on the link. Right click on it and save it somewhere on your hard drive. This will probably be either a .ram file or a .mpl file or a .pls file.

It will be a very small file. It just contains information on where to look on the Internet for the stream.

To schedule recording, you'll need two tasks: the first to start playing the stream and the second to start recording for the desired length of time.

There is one caveat to this scheme: you'll miss one minute of recording. The minimum time between tasks is one minute and the Play task must start first.
