Can't Convert to WMA

OK, I'm sure I am missing something really simple here, but I can't work it out!
I can convert any file, in any format, to any other format except to WMA.
I can rip to WMA so the encoder must be OK (Yes?)
So, why can't I convert (anything) to WMA?
(Same for 9.1316 and 10.024)
Please put me out of my misery!

EDIT - Could it be to do with WMP? I am using V9.
