Media Server Quality
« on: December 29, 2003, 05:35:52 pm »

Using the media server in Media Center 9.1. .WAV files, no compression.

I've noticed that songs sound different when played through the media server and when simply played from a shared network drive.

Does the media server do anything to the files to degrade the audio? I like the media server, and would like to use it so that multiple clients don't have to manage their own library... but my whole point of storing all these WAV files was not to compromise...

Also, it appears that the "1411 kbps" does not show up when using media server, but rather shows "?"

Happy for any confirmation or advice. Thanks!

Unless you are using TiVo, the streams are transmitted "as-is". There is no conversion of the signal.

With TiVo you may be changing everything to mp3.
