Help getting started with Lyric Finder
« on: January 31, 2005, 10:04:20 am »

Maybe I've overlooked something obvious, but I can't get Lyric Finder to work for the life of me!

I'm running the latest MC11 build 183, and I've installed King Sparta's plugin, version 0.0.32

The instructions on how to get started are not very clear, but I think all I'm supposed to do is put some files in Playing Now, and click the batch mode button.

However, when I do that (with 1 song in the playlist), MC stops responding for 5 - 10 minutes (but seems to be idle, as it's not spiking the CPU) then finally tells me that batch is complete, and becomes responsive again.  I don't see any lyrics anywhere, though.

there has been over 15,000 requests on the ftp server today for lyrics, and i just tested it, it is working fine.

so i have to think the problem is on your side.

I don't see this problem, and others don't also

Sometimes this can be caused by firewalls, Mostly The Microsoft firewall in Windows XP

Maybe you can try this with your firewall (s) off.

Thanks... it was my PC.  I tried it on my laptop and it worked great.  No idea what's wrong, though -- Windows firewall was turned off and everything else seems to be functioning OK.  Guess it's time for a re-build.

I'm getting this when try to run lyrics finder:

http://www.kraljic.info/temp/norton1.jpg
http://www.kraljic.info/temp/norton2.jpg

Is this dangerous?
Also MC freezes and I have to kill it via task manager.

I Have Norton 2005 I Do not Get This Warning

Norton Sometimes Will Give False Warnings, Some Trojans Will Use A Fixed Port, So Norton Will Warn You If A Program Uses A Port That Is Known To Be Used By A Trojan.

Lyrics Finder Uses Only Port 21, The Standard FTP Port.

If you have a router It may redirect info over other ports that may or may not be used by trojans.

I have no idea why you would get this warning on your system, My program does nothing to produce it.

the FTP OCX may from time to time freeze normaly it does this when there is a comunications problem between the two computers (there is nothing i can do about that).

Maybe Both of the problems are related, even more so if you tell Norton antivirus "NO" do not allow, and i think that is likely

Thanks. I installed newer version of lyrics finder from your web site and there is no more freezeing, but norton is going crazy with this warnings of trojan threats, every few seconds:
Shiva Burka
Shock Rave
TransScout
Ripper
Bugs
etc...
I'am using only dial-up connection.

As I Said There Is No Way It Should Cause That.

Your Norton Antivirus Is Screwed Up.

Have you tried Norton's support?
